Check out this beautiful Solana Beach Remodel! Our clients wanted to open up their Kitchen and Dining Room. They wanted to redo their staircase to reflect their taste. Because we were doing an extensive remodel of the lower floor, they also wanted us to design a casual family space on the second floor.
Our designer, Jen Bannister worked with this family to maximize lighting and create an inviting, open floor plan throughout their home.
Principal, Chad Arendsen shares his thoughts on the project…
This project was special to my heart in that it was a home I was familiar with, as I knew the previous owners prior to our clients who remodeled it. I always knew the potential of the home and the aspirations the previous owners had, so when the opportunity came about to be part of the design and remodel process for the new owners, I was so excited! To combine that overall passion and curiosity of what “could be done” with the fact that the new owners, the Sharps, were incredible people with great taste and phenomenal visions of what the potential of the property could be, this project was so fun to work on and is absolutely one of my favorites.
I am so appreciative to have been part of this project and the process of this transformation, especially for this family. On top of all of that, I love hanging out with the Sharps and they are so wonderful to work with!

By removing the wall that once divided these spaces. there is clear visual and physical connection between the kitchen and the dining area, making it easy for family and friends to stay connected during meal preparation, etc. Joining up these two spaces provides for more continuity and easier flow throughout the house.

This angle shows the volume of the space and the openness provided by relocating the stairs, updating all flooring to a wide-planked engineered wood and changing up the wall texture and paint color a bright, welcoming space.
